We could not skip Singapore from our Southeast Asia itinerary. Not only it is a big hub for the airlines operating in the area, but it is also a very child-friendly place. On the other hand, Singapore is one of the most expensive cities in the world, so you have to plan your visit very wisely, especially if you travel for a long time, as we do.
Luckily, we found the perfect accommodation in Singapore: York Hotel, that offers great value for the money and it is perfect for families.
You can read here more about York Hotel.
Right in the famous Orchard area, York Hotel is a great base to explore Singapore. It is located on top of Mount Elizabeth, in a quiet urban oasis, but less that 10 minutes away from the bustling shopping area. Orchard road is the heaven for any shopping addict and you could spend days wandering around hundreds of shops, for any taste and budget. During our stay at York Hotel, we saw each day guests carrying several shopping bags. But we were here for this, we were here to see the city!
Orchard MRT station is just a few minutes walk from Hotel York. Singapore has an excellent metro system and it is very unlikely for you to need a taxi here. It features several metro lines, very intelligently designed and linked. You can easily get anywhere without getting lost or confused. We used just the metro even for the ride to and from the airport, it is the perfect option. From York Hotel, we could explore not only the shopping hub at Orchard road, but also Singapore Marina area, Garden’s by the Bay and Sentosa Island.
After wandering around the city, we found great relaxing moments at Hotel York’s swimming pool. It also features a small jacuzzi and a kids pool, so all the three of us could have our own happy moments here.
Refurbished in 2017, York Hotel has comfortable rooms, equipped in a modern way. Our family suite was awesome, with plenty of space for Eric to play. It would be a great option even for a larger family or older kids. All the three of us could rest very well here, far from any noise.

For me, breakfast is very important and we loved the one at York Hotel; it includes both Asian and international specialties, including eggs made to the order. Eric was happy with pancakes and fresh fruits and, if a toddler enjoys breakfast, it means it is really delicious! The White Rose Cafe restaurant has various Asian and Western specialties in the menu, including some iconic Singaporean favourites like Fish Head Curry or Beef Rendang.
To sum up, Hotel York is a great option for your family stay in Singapore; it is affordable, but with all the needed comfort and in a top location.
