Holiday Inn Resort Phuket, Eric’s favourite hotel

Holiday Inn Resort Phuket, Eric’s favourite hotel

“Mum, this is my favourite hotel!”. I guess this means something, coming from a 3 years old who spent the last 7 months in over 60 hotels. And I could totally understand my kid’s “review” for Holiday Inn Resort Phuket!

You can check here the rates or book your room at Holiday Inn Resort Phuket.

We enjoyed Patong more than we thought when we arrived in Phuket, so we wanted to stay here a bit more before leaving Andaman Sea islands. So as the last stop before leaving this country, we spent three nights at Holiday Inn Resort Phuket. Conveniently located in the center of Patong Beach, there is no better choice if you are in Phuket with kids!

A huge property with lots of green areas, we initially thought there are two different hotels over here. Holiday Inn Resort in Patong Beach includes two different wings, each with its own pool and lounge area. There are even two reception desks and the Busakom wing features an adult-area section. You can enter the property from three different streets, making it very accessible. No matter you are going to the beach, to explore the night market or the bustling streets, everything is just a few minutes away.

But if you don’t fancy to leave the premises, there is no need for that. With a few restaurants, a bar, lounge areas, swimming pools, spa and gym, you have everything you need at Holiday Inn; there is even a mini mart onsite, with a large selection of convenience items.

Family suites at Holiday Inn Resort Phuket

We were lucky enough to have a family suite in the main building, which was actually the reason for Eric’s enthusiasm. It was the first time we stayed in a hotel room specifically built for kids.

The family suites at Holiday Inn Resort Phuket feature a main bedroom, spacious and elegant, plus a second room especially designed for the little ones. Pirate-themed, with boat-like beds and walls painted with islands and ships, even I could happily sleep there! Moreover, in the treasure chest, Eric found several toys perfect for his age. For older kids, the room includes a play-station too. Both rooms have their own bathroom, including kids & baby toiletry items, which is a huge plus when you travel with young children. Eric got a very strong sense about his space over there; I could hardly refrain from laughing when I heard him arguing “No dad, we go to brush my teeth in MY bathroom!” Another option for families is the Kids Suite, featuring bunk beds in a pirate or jungle theme. Both the Family and the Kids Suite can accommodate two adults and two children under 12 years of age.

Having such an awesome kids room meant we could enjoy some more space just for ourselves. Even since we left Bonaire, Eric sleeps with us, as it is the easiest option when you travel full time with a toddler. But in the family suite in Holiday Inn Resort Phuket, he asked to sleep alone in his boat-bed. I got very nostalgic seeing him in a kid’s bed for the first time.

Kids’ Activities

There are lots of other facilities for families at Holiday Inn Resort Phuket. The main outdoor attractions are the two swimming pools: one for toddlers, protected from sun and with a small slide, and another one for children, with a slide and water spouts. These are located close to the Kids’ Club, a bit remote from the large pools, so that adults can enjoy their quiet time too.

The Kids’ Club is heaven on Earth for kids and paradise for parents. It is the perfect indoor place for children of all ages, especially as the temperature rise a lot in the middle of the day. The team over here is great to accustom the kids with the place and engage them in various activities. Eric loved the “painting class” and we even kept his drawing as a very nice memory. Kids under 5 years of age need to be accompanied by an adult, but for the older ones the team is ready to supervise, while the parents have their relaxing moments. Another great aspect is that the Kids’ Club is open in the evening too for three days a week.

Quiet toys and colouring books are available all around the resort, in the restaurants and bars, so that the whole family has an enjoyable holiday at all times.

Restaurants at Holiday Inn Resort Phuket

Holiday Inn Resort Phuket offers great eating options too. At Sea Breeze Cafe & Terrace, we had one of the best breakfast buffets in the last few months. It really offers anything you might want to eat in the morning, even an Indian and an Arabic corner! What I particularly appreciated was the chilled room with salads, fruits, cheese and dairy products, served this way in a more sanitised environment, considering how hot it gets in Patong. Apart from high chairs and a kids food stand, little ones feel special by having their own plates and cutlery, silicone bibs and even toys. So our breakfasts were much more enjoyable and we didn’t have to rush to eat before the kid gets bored!

For dinner, we tried the buffet at Sea Breeze, with a different theme each night (seafood, barbecue etc.), and the Italian Terrazzo restaurant, with wood-fired pizza and fresh pasta. Other options at Holiday Inn include Charm Thai restaurant and Sam’s Steak & Grill.

Tea Tree Spa

Since these were our last days in Thailand, I wanted to try a massage too. Tea Tree Spa at Holiday Inn Resort has a very tempting massage and treatments menu. But I was mostly impressed to see there are special packages for kids.

“My first massage” is usually recommended starting 5 years of age. This is only because the child might not cooperate before that. They use only natural oils, delicate with skin, and all the procedures are safe for young kids too. So we decided to give it a try with Eric. It was awesome, completely exceeding everyone’s expectations.

While we thought he will get bored in 10-15 minutes, he enjoyed the massage for about 40 minutes. At the end, he concluded: “We’re coming again!”. And I don’t even need to mention how much I loved my massage hour; it was the most relaxing experience in a while!
