Each time we visit Dubai, we try at least one or two new places to eat. We always prefer to stay in JBR or Dubai Marina, our favourite areas over here, which offer a large variety of restaurants. For our last visit, we chose Wavebreaker, a beach club and restaurant, set in the Hilton Dubai Jumeirah Resort.

Located right on the beach, Wavebreaker has that holiday vibe typical to sea side destinations. The casual setup is perfect to spend a relaxed lunch, on the large terrace or indoor, hiding from the heat while you enjoy the same beach feeling. You can also plan a longer visit, as beach club daily passes are available. The whole place is very family-friendly, with access to the private beach and pool area. It even includes a beach play ground. Kids 6-12 years old benefit of discounted rates, while the younger ones get in for free.
The menu at The Wavebreaker can satisfy any food preference. We started our lunch with a traditional Cold Mezze, as we love Arabic cuisine! Hummus, moutabal and vine leaves, with fatoush and Arabic pickles, coming with fresh, warm pita bread. Delicious! Honestly, I could eat just that, but the menu at Wavebreaker was too tempting not to try something else too.
Andrei ordered a huge delicious burger, perfectly grilled and topped with bacon and mushrooms. For myself, I prefer light, vegetarian dishes on hot sunny days. Luckily The Wavebreaker includes interesting vegan options…. I tried a taco filled with crisp asparagus and flavoured mushrooms, perfectly seasoned with spicy guacamole. It was just awesome! Other food options include seafood, ribs or lamb, freshly cooked on the charcoal grill, salads or sandwiches.
Eric was happy to have his own kids menu. This came in the form of a coloring book which kept him busy for a little while. Of course he picked mashed potatoes, one of his favourites. After the first spoon, he declared happily that it is “ just like grandma’s”, which means delicious. Kids orders are very large, I think the grilled chicken breast prepared for Eric would have been enough even for me!
At the end, we were too full to be able to have some dessert, even though the Dulce de Leche Creation or Chocolate Brownie sounds very tempting. But we couldn’t say no for Eric to a scoop of delicious mango ice cream. The staff at Wavebreaker was extremely nice and friendly, making Eric feel very good over here.
To accompany the food, the beach bar pours tasty colorful cocktails. As it was extremely hot outside, we picked the homemade sugar-free ice tea, a refreshing and delicious fruit combination. I particularly appreciated the care for the environment, as all the beverages are served using eco-friendly straws, which is not very common (yet) in Dubai.
